傳eBay要分拆旗下金雞母PayPal支付事業

科技新聞網站The Information引述消息來源報導，拍賣網站eBay考慮分拆旗下成長迅速的支付事業PayPal，最快明年實施。消息一出eBay股價一度大漲6.8%。

消息指出，PayPal執行長馬可斯（David Marcus）已於6月離職，而eBay告訴可能的繼任人選，可能把PayPal從eBay分拆出去。

eBay發言人米勒在消息傳出後表示：「董事會將持續評估所有選項，以便為eBay和PayPal創造長期價值，提高成長和競爭力。這個立場從未改變。」

The Information的報導也說，eBay究竟是要把PayPal整個或部分分拆出去還不確定，要採用什麼結構也不清楚。

之前維權投資人艾康（Carl Icahn）一直大力鼓吹把PayPal分拆出去，但始終未獲得eBay執行長杜納何（John Donahoe）支持。4月時艾康總算放棄，表示他雖然支持PayPal能在近期內分拆，但時候還沒到。不過有些投資人認為，獨立出來的PayPal能吸引對eBay心懷疑懼的網路零售商，有助成長。
