最古老精子出土 距今千萬年

（法新社雪梨14日電） 科學家今天表示，澳洲發現世界最古老且保存完整的精子，時間可追溯到1700萬年前。

科學家在列入世界遺產的昆士蘭省（Queensland）北部瑞弗斯雷（Riversleigh）化石地，發現小型蝦遠古物種的精子。

科學家估計精子長度1.3公釐，比小型蝦全身還長一點。這種小型蝦屬於泛稱「介形蟲」的淡水甲殼綱動物。

新南威爾斯大學（University of New SouthWales）生物、地球和環境科學院（School ofBiological, Earth and Environmental Sciences）的阿契爾（Mike Archer）說，發現這個精子令人興奮。

阿契爾說：「這是地質紀錄有史以來發現最古老精子化石。」

科學家研究結果刊登在「皇家學會報告生物科學版」（Proceedings of the Royal Society B）。
