時代雜誌 開放封面登廣告

美國最大雜誌出版商時代公司，已率先決定在旗下最具代表性的時代雜誌（TIME）和運動畫刊（Sports Illustrated）封面上刊登廣告，打破出版業長期以來的禁忌，儘管這個廣告可能小到讓許多讀者不會注意到。

根據時代釋出的雜誌副本，威瑞森公司（Verizon）將在6月2日出刊的時代雜誌封面左下角刊登廣告，位置就在郵寄標籤下方。時代發言人表示，預定同日出刊的運動畫刊封面上，也會出現類似廣告。

該發言人說，如果廣告主有興趣，時代的其他出版品也會跟進。儘管亟需開拓新營收來源，大型雜誌出版商過去幾乎不販賣封面廣告，部分原因是這違反美國雜誌編輯協會（ASME）的規範。ASME的編輯規範中有一條是「廣告不應直接印在封面或書脊上」。

除了時代和運動畫刊，其他雜誌也曾試過不同類型的廣告，例如康德納斯（Conde Nast）2012年曾在旗下14份雜誌的封面附上一整頁的Windows 8廣告。

另外，學者公司（Scholastic）旗下雜誌《Parent & Child》早在2009年就開始直接在封面刊登廣告。
