XTR M970和M951前變相容否？

去年第一次組碳纖車，
不知道碳纖車架通常要用下擺式中變，
或E-type中變，
當時買整套M970時，
配的是上擺式中變，
因此多出這個中變。

家裡另有一部配M951變把的老車，
是3x9=24速，
想問這個M970的中變，
可以和M951的變把和大盤搭配嗎？
會不會不相容？

另請問
一、
在網路上查到的M95x系列的變把，
有的寫8速，
有的寫9速，
是真的有兩種規格，
還是有些賣家寫錯了？

二、
目前考慮買下擺式的中變，
或E-type中變，
不知道E-type除了比較重以外，
耐用度和調整上，
有沒有什麼缺點？
