學生人數下降 波多黎各將關閉百所學校

位於加勒比海地區的美國自治領地波多黎各教育部長羅曼(Rafael Roman)10日宣布，由於學生人數下降，今年8月起將關閉大約100所學校。
羅曼說，關閉的100所學校大部份是小學，預計將可以因此省下2,700萬美元公帑。
羅曼沒有說明那些學校將被關閉，但自12日起，相關學校將會收到通知。羅曼也強調，沒有人會因此而遭到解雇。
羅曼表示，在4英哩之內有2所學校，其中1所就會被關閉。
根據波多黎各的統計，在2013年波多黎各約有42萬3,000名學生，羅曼估計，在2020年前，學生人數將下降到31萬7,000人。
由於過去8年經濟衰退，估計大約有45萬人選擇離開波多黎各。
