耐吉瓦荷酋長商品遭抗議

（中央社記者顏伶如波特蘭2014年4月30日專電）全球運動用品商耐吉（Nike）遭到美國印地安原住民團體抗議，要求停止生產及販賣印有美國職棒大聯盟MLB克里夫蘭印地安人隊「瓦荷酋長」（Chief Wahoo）標誌的商品。

由「消滅帶有冒犯意味吉祥物」（ EradicatingOffensive Native Mascotry）團體發起的抗議活動，本週稍早發表聲明表示：「我們呼籲耐吉對於包容的理念要說到做到」。

聲明中寫道，利用印地安原住民的吉祥物做為謀利之用，並不是多元文化的呈現，也不符合包容的精神。

頭上插著羽毛，有著紅色臉孔、露齒而笑的「瓦荷酋長」，是克里夫蘭印地安人隊（Cleveland Indians）的吉祥物。在克里夫蘭印地安人隊的幾款帽子、球衣上，都可以看到「瓦荷酋長」。

除了透過社群網站發動網路抗議，「消滅帶有冒犯意味吉祥物」也表示將到耐吉位於俄勒岡州比佛頓市（Beaverton）的企業總部抗議。

耐吉並未對於這波抗議活動發表評論。
