爵士雷霆之戰第三節還有4分2秒時，已經攻下23分的Kevin Durant，獲得三罰機會，當他前兩罰都進，現場球迷響起熱烈掌聲，因為大家知道，Durant距離Michael Jordan的紀錄，只差兩步了。

這項紀錄是：連續40場比賽得分25以上。Jordan在1986-87球季寫下這項壯舉，27季之後，遇到Durant強力挑戰。目前Durant已經連38場得分25以上。

但Durant似乎沒有把紀錄看得很重。「我只是來打好比賽的，」Durant說，「如果破紀錄，很酷，要是沒破，也很酷。我會配合團隊作戰，有機會我就投，該傳球我也會傳。就算沒破紀錄，我也不會因此睡不著覺。」

這一戰Durant攻下31分，還傳出9次助攻，幫助雷霆以116比96大勝爵士。

爵士隊第一節只得9分，是他們本季最糟的第一節，落後17分，但第三節後半一度追到「可逆轉範圍」，卻被Durant飆進關鍵三分球，大局底定。

「太難受了。」爵士Marvin Williams說，「那是一記有夠重要的三分球，幾乎擊垮我們的信心。好不容易追到差12分，但Durant卻在嚴防之下，飆進神奇三分球，那太關鍵了。」

雷霆搶下2連勝，戰績54勝19敗，名列聯盟第二，落後馬刺3場。爵士吞下4連敗，戰績23勝51敗，是西區爐主，落後倒數第二的湖人2場。
