美國皮膚科醫師警告，越來越多人因為使用濕紙巾、液態皂引起過敏反應，而導致過敏反應的罪魁禍首正是裡面所添加的防腐劑。

常引起過敏反應的防腐劑成分為「甲基異唑酮」（Methylisothiazolinone）。許多濕紙巾、液態皂、化妝品、頭髮用品、防曬乳、洗衣清潔用品、清潔產品等含水產品都有「甲基異唑酮」成分。當皮膚接觸到防腐劑，可能出現發癢、疼痛、紅疹等症狀，還可能產生水泡，這種反應有點像接觸到毒藤。
