旅美左投王維中昨天投出96哩(約155公里)的快速球，他不改愛開玩笑的個性表示，「那可能是風吹的吧！」但總教練羅尼基(Ron Roenicke)可不這麼認為，面對媒體質疑測速槍的準確性，他力挺子弟兵，「我們的測速槍很準，我也相信王維中做得到。」

釀酒人透過規則五選秀挖來王維中，春訓期間觀察這位左投球速大多落在91到93哩(約146公里到150公里)之間，球團也曾聽說他最快能投到94哩(約151公里)。

昨天球速再往上攀升，飆出96哩的火球，讓休息室裡的隊友、教練都為之驚艷。

當時王維中面對的是小熊二壘手巴尼(Darwin Barney)，他先投出一顆快速球與曲球，形成1好1壞後，再用93哩的快速球搶到第2顆好球，接著就投出96哩的火球，可惜沒有通過好球帶，但最後仍以94哩的快速球吸引打者出棒擊成外野飛球遭接殺。

「你可以看到，當下王維中的球數領先，讓他能放手去投。」總教練羅尼基認為，王維中投球時通常都很放鬆，投球動作也相當流暢，「我喜歡看他這樣投球，我想他現在也確定自己能做得到，投起球來會更加自在。」

走出上一戰遭到「老東家」海盜痛擊的陰霾，王維中昨天在最後半局讓小熊打者三上三下。

羅尼基表示，如果這位新秀能持續保有這樣的球速，又能將球投進好球帶，「那他接下來不只要投出好球，也要試著將球控制在本壘板兩旁邊邊角角的位置，這是成為好投手必須要有的能力。」

王維中自己則是透過翻譯許人傑說到，隊友洛許(Kyle Lohse)先前在春訓時告訴他，「投好球就對了！」自己只是照著前輩的建議去做，「我現在比較能放鬆了，希望這樣的感覺能維持下去。」
